Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles and Oversee.net Team Up to Grant Heartfelt Wish for Future "Pinball Wizard"
LOS ANGELES, CA (DECEMBER 11, 2007) - The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Greater Los Angeles and Oversee.net, a technology-driven online marketing solutions company, granted Ryan Post's wish to have an adapted full-sized arcade-style pinball machine tonight at the Foundation's fourth installment of "Weekly Wish Nights at The Grove." With a surprise appearance by Spider-Man® and video games set-up for children to enjoy, holiday shoppers gathered underneath the Christmas Tree at The Grove to celebrate Ryan's heartfelt wish as part of the Foundation's holiday season campaign, A Season of Wishes™.
Ryan, a fifth-grader from West Palmdale who turned 11 on Dec. 2, was born with arthrogryposis and severe scoliosis, making it difficult for him to move his joints and compromising his respiratory function. Ryan has undergone more than 25 surgeries since birth including his most recent spinal fusion surgery in early October 2007. Just prior to his most recent hospital stay, his mother decided to contact the Make-A-Wish Foundation, knowing that Ryan would wish for the adaptive pinball machine he discovered at an Abilities Expo in June 2007. The machine plugs into his wheelchair, enabling him to play using the micro-switches on his chair, which he did for hours when he first laid eyes on the machine at the Expo. "With so much buzz around gaming this holiday season, it's a joy to be granting a child's wish for one of the original ‘gaming systems.' Having the opportunity to grant Ryan's wish and be there to see the joyful look on his face is a reminder for our team of what the holiday season is truly about," said Lawrence C. Ng, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Strategist and Co-Founder of Oversee.net. "This is our first year being involved with A Season of Wishes and we are honored to be a part of such an inspirational holiday campaign." As part of its sponsorship of the 2007 A Season of Wishes Southern California holiday campaign, Oversee.net donated $15,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles. "With Oversee.net's generous donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles, Ryan now has the ability to enjoy playing pinball with his friends, something he has been restricted from doing until now," said Kelli Seely president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles. "We are extremely grateful to have Oversee.net as a sponsor of our holiday campaign and for their enthusiastic involvement in Ryan's wish celebration." The Foundation's holiday campaign, A Season of Wishes™ (http://www.ASeasonofWishes.org), conveys the powerful impact that fulfilling a wish has on everyone associated with the experience. The Southern California chapters will share the power of individual children's wishes by granting wishes at public venues in areas surrounding Los Angeles, Tri-Counties, Orange County, Inland Empire and San Diego.
